Kristian Ferreira

Community Liaison

Background

Since 2012, Kristian has received awards for his community involvement as he has amassed over five thousand hours of recorded volunteerism. The majority of those hours were spent assisting marginalized communities, notably low income and at-risk youth who have witnessed different forms of abuse. Outside of volunteering, Kristian was a leader on both the McMaster University Varsity Soccer and Track teams; and was a part of the Trinidad and Tobago – Under 23 Football Roster in 2015. He also enjoys preparing and participating in orchestral performances in community events such as the Boys and Girls Club, Sexual Assault Centre Hamilton Association Chocolate Fest, Easter Seals Ontario, City Hall Nelson Mandela Memorial Ceremony, Martin Luther King Jr. Day Toronto, Canadian Citizenship Ceremony Toronto and the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay – with the Hamilton Youth Steel Orchestra.

In 2017, Kristian made the conscious decision to study law at the University of Leeds in the hope of gaining experiences in life and academia, from one of Britain’s Ivy-League equivalents, in the birthplace of common law. During law school he participated in debating and mooting competitions, became involved with pro-bono groups and represented the school in a national negotiation competition.

As Community Liaison, Kristian is the association representative at the Roundtable of Diversity Association meetings.
