Background

Tracey-Ann Dobson-Hamilton is a lawyer and accredited family mediator. In 2012, she articled with a legal aid clinic in Brampton, and was admitted to practice in June 2013. Subsequently, she worked in private practice firms in Brampton and Mississauga for almost 5 years, focusing on various areas including contract, criminal, employment, and family. She appeared before different levels of court including the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. In addition to working as a lawyer and mediator, she managed the mediation training program at her last firm where she trained other lawyers to become accredited family mediators.

In addition, Tracey-Ann is passionate about volunteer work. Currently, she serves as the Director of Professional Development for the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL), a role she was elected to in March 2021 and re-elected to in June 2023. She leads a team of 5 consisting of legal professionals and a law student. Her accomplishments with the team include but are not limited to coordinating and executing CABL’s first 2-day virtual conference in 2021 and CABL’s first hybrid (in-person and Zoom) conference held in Ottawa in 2022. Previously, she served as a member of CABL’s PD team from October 2017 where she assisted with planning and executing various PD events including the annual conference in 2018, speed mentoring, and Black History month.
