Navigating the Corporate Space as Women of Colour
What a difference a year makes
In October 2019 in Halifax, the CBA Women Lawyers Forum and the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers collaborated on a conference panel about intersectionality entitled “Navigating the Corporate Space as Women of Colour.” This was an enlightening and emotional discussion about the successes and obstacles that BIPOC women lawyers experience in the legal profession and the meaning of allyship in legal professional spaces. Fast forward to 2020, and there is more to navigate than anyone could have imagined a year ago — including the challenges and inequities of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the struggles and opportunities of the ongoing anti-racism protests following a multitude of police killings of BIPOC people in Canada and the US.
Reunite with us on October 17, 2020, for this “one year later” panel discussion. How are women of colour in the legal profession navigating the “new normal” of the legal profession and working towards a future of racial justice?
