Background

Kyle is Counsel, Diversity and Inclusion at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes). In this role, Kyle leads the Firm’s diversity and inclusion outreach initiatives, which are designed to attract students from diverse backgrounds to the practice of business law. Kyle is also responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to promote the Firm’s internal diversity and inclusion strategy and initiatives.

Prior to joining Blakes, Kyle summered and articled at another large firm in Toronto. He is an active member of the legal community and serves as an independent member of the Law Society of Ontario’s Equity Advisory Group (EAG), which provides advice to the Law Society on issues affecting diverse communities in the legal profession. He also sits on the DEI Standing Committee of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), an association of legal career professionals who advise law students, lawyers, law offices, and law schools in North America and beyond.

Prior to joining the CABL Board in Fall 2017, Kyle served on the National Executive of the Black Law Students’ Association of Canada (BLSA Canada) as the Mentorship Coordinator and National Articling Representative. He also previously served as the President of BLSA Osgoode. Kyle graduated from Carleton University and received his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School.
