Background

Sam is a litigation and dispute resolution lawyer in Gowling WLG’s Vancouver office. He practices in the areas of commercial litigation, administrative law, and professional liability. Sam represents clients in matters including banking litigation, product liability disputes, contract and negligence claims, and professional liability matters.

Sam has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, and has appeared before administrative tribunals including the Health Professions Review Board and the Senate Committee on Appeals. Complementary to his practice, Sam is also an Adjunct Professor at Capilano University’s School of Legal Studies where he teaches Conflict Resolution.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Sam developed his advocacy skills as a judicial law clerk for the Honourable Justice Robert L. Barnes of the Federal Court of Canada. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria, after which he lived and worked in South Korea for several years. Sam subsequently returned to Canada and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Thompson Rivers University, Faculty of Law, during which time he went on exchange at the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law.
