Raphael Tachie

Background

Raphael is a Senior Counsel with TD Bank Group where he provides estates and trusts advice to the business as it relates to its products, services and market conduct. He works closely with his business partners in developing, implementing and maintaining best-in-class estates and trusts advice practices and processes that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Raphael also has significant experience advising individuals and families with substantial private company interests and other legacy assets intended to benefit multiple generations on life and health insurance planning, private business succession and governance.

Prior to joining the financial services industry, Raphael worked as a wealth preservation and estates and trusts lawyer with Bull, Housser and Tupper LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright LLP) in Vancouver and Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP in Toronto respectively.

Raphael earned his law degree from the University of Victoria, and his Master of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and the Canadian Bar Association.

Away from work, Raphael enjoys playing and watching soccer. He also loves travelling, cooking and reading biographies. He is a long-time volunteer with the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and Simon Fraser Alumni Association.
